Escape festival special: Pride and joy

It’s not just about June — New York is having a super-gay year. To mark half a century since Stonewall, NYC has declared 2019 the Year of Pride and is curating Stonewall50, a series of more than 100 exhibitions, talks, screenings and debates. Start with a history lesson at Art After Stonewall, 1969-89, a joint exhibition at the Leslie-Lohman Museum and Grey Art Gallery (leslielohman.org). It looks at the impact of LGBTQ rights on the art world, featuring work from Andy Warhol and David Hockney, among many others.
