Grey Art Gallery, NYU will temporarily close starting Saturday, March 14

Museum Closure

As of Saturday, March 14, the Grey Art Gallery at New York University is temporarily closed to the public until further notice. All upcoming public programs are cancelled and we are no longer accepting tour requests. The closure is a proactive measure to protect the health of the museum’s visitors and staff in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with NYU’s policies to limit the spread of the virus in New York.

The Grey prioritizes the safety of our staff, visitors, and the larger University community, and we hope that closing the museum will reduce the number of people on campus and slow the opportunity for transmission. These actions are in alignment with the closing of many other New York City museums and institutions, and, as always, we are following the lead of New York University, which has transitioned to remote learning for all students.

We know that museums and art can provide comfort and respite during difficult times, and we made this decision after careful consideration. We encourage you to explore our website, which has information on our permanent collection, a history of our exhibitions, a student-run blog, and more.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with updates on our reopening as we assess the situation over the next few weeks. Further updates to our operating hours will be announced on our website, on our social media platforms, and via email.
