AMERICANS IN PARIS: ARTISTS WORKING IN POSTWAR FRANCE, 1946-1962
This exhibition sketches a nascent movement of American artists in Europe at thefoundation of late American Modernism: Ellsworth Kelly, Kenneth Noland, JackYoungerman, to name but a few. With 135 works by approximately 70 artists, the showboth looks back and projects forward to the moment’s lasting influence with works bysuch notables as Beauford Delaney, Carmen Herrera, and Joan Mitchell.
