Abby Grey was particularly fond of works by Hamid Zarrine-Afsar and acquired more than 35 of his paintings. This work and several others in the collection are variations on the grid theme then so ubiquitous in Western and Iranian modern art. Other pieces demonstrate his use of the abstract idiom to explore diaphanous organic forms and mystical ideas.
