My Semina Photography: A Conversation

Monday, February 12, 6:30 pm

Rosenthal Pavilion, Kimmel Center for University Life,

60 Washington Square South, 10th floor

Actor, photographer, filmmaker, and painter Dennis Hopper, a member of the Semina circle, will discuss his work in conversation with Shelley Rice, photography historian and critic in NYU’s Department of Photography and Imaging and Department of Fine Arts. Taking his camera along on travels for his acting career, Hopper recorded pop stars, artists, the Civil Rights March of 1963, and Allen Kaprow’s Ice Palace project, among other subjects. In 2001 he published 1712 North Crescent Heights, a record of his married life with actress Brooke Hayward amid pop Los Angeles and the counterculture.
