Filipina Changes America Changes Filipina

In conjunction with the exhibition Sheer Realities: A Celebration of Philippine Culture

This panel discussion will focus on the historical contributions of Filipino women in American life, tracing their trajectory from war brides and plantation workers to professionals in the fields of medicine, business, academia, politics, social activism, and the arts, as well as addressing the influx of domestic workers in recent years. Speakers will provide nuanced perspectives on the changing roles of Filipino American women, the unique dimensions of feminism in Filipino culture, and the myriad ways in which Filipinas continue to transform America.
