Lecture by Gennady Estraikh, Clinical Associate Professor of Hebrew & Judaic Studies and Rauch Associate Professor of Yiddish Studies, NYU. Accompanied by a screening of L’Chayim, Comrade Stalin!, a documentary film tracing the history of Birobidzhan, the capital of the Soviet Union’s Jewish Autonomous Region, from 1928 to the present. Directed by Yale Strom. 90 min.
