Myth and Reality in the International Contemporary Art Scene

In conjunction with the exhibition First Steps III: Emerging Artists from Japan

The symposium will address issues concerning the current state of contemporary art worldwide
and its translation onto the global stage. Moderated by Carlo Lamagna, Chair, Department of Art
and Art Professions, School of Education, New York University. The speakers are drawn from the
jury for the Grey Art Gallery’s current exhibition, The First Steps: Emerging Artists from Japan:
