Panel discussion moderated by Priscilla P. Soucek, John L. Loeb Professor in the History of Art, Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, with speakers Layla S. Diba, independent scholar and curator, Maryam Ekhtiar, associate curator of Islamic art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Massumeh Farhad, chief curator and curator of Islamic art, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery—who will demonstrate the ways in which Iranian artists in the 20th and 21st centuries have created works that also reflect aspects of their local traditions.
