Shifting Literary Landscapes: Modern British Books from The Fales Library
On view November 13, 2001–January 26, 2002
The Fales Library, Bobst Library, Third Floor, New York University, 70 Washington Square South
This selection of rare items from The Fales Library and Special Collections at New York University will feature an array of British texts focusing on landscape themes. Works included range from William Wordsworth’s Lyrical Ballads and Other Poems of 1800, a classic paean to the beauty and spontaneity of nature, to Will Self’s Grey Area and Other Stories of 1994, a collection of short stories by a self-proclaimed anti-establishment author that conjures up a suffocating vision of contemporary urban alienation.
