The Richard Martin Costume Studies Symposium: Asia and the Pacific: The Art of Costume and Textiles

In conjunction with the exhibition Sheer Realities: A Celebration of Philippine Culture

Featuring a series of papers presented by graduate students in the Master’s Program in Costume Studies at NYU and other scholars, this symposium will explore the artistry of costumes and textiles from China, Japan, Indonesia, Hawaii, and the Philippines, along with the trade relationships and ethnic and religious ties that shaped their cultural significance.
