Screenprinting Workshop for NYU Students | Print & Preserve

Longform Content

The Grey Art Museum’s Student Friends Committee is pleased to present this year’s student spring event, “Print & Preserve.” Inspired by artist Robert Rauschenberg’s belief that “art can encourage individual conscience,” this hands-on, beginner-friendly screenprinting workshop invites all NYU students to engage with ideas of sustainability, activism, and creative reuse. Drawing from the Grey’s current exhibition, Handle With Care—which features a selection of Rauschenberg’s prints—the event highlights printmaking as an accessible medium for thoughtful reflection and collective action.

Participants are encouraged to bring small garments or fabric pieces to transform through screenprinting, or to use the provided materials to create unique greeting cards. Through experimental techniques in layering, texture, and found materials, attendees will explore how prints can foster artistic expression and environmental awareness.

Refreshments will be served.
