The Student Friends Committee (SFC) is a working group that fosters student leadership by connecting the NYU student body to the Grey Art Museum, NYU’s fine arts museum. We aim to provide a platform that allows students to form working relationships with museum professionals, support emerging generations of cultural leaders, learn more about contemporary and modern art, and create events tailored to NYU students.

Who can apply?
Membership in the SFC is open to all NYU undergraduate students. No prior experience or background in art history is necessary. We are looking for motivated students to enrich our conversations with their unique perspectives and experiences.

What’s in it for you?
Students on the SFC will get behind-the-scenes access to our exhibition galleries at 18 Cooper Square, such as private exhibition walkthroughs and conversations with museum professionals! Students will also obtain valuable skills in event planning, public outreach, collaborative work, and more. Previous SFC meetings featured exclusive field trips to private art collections and artist foundations, as well as engaging guest speakers.

Note: Food and drinks will be served at our meetings to ensure your belly is as full as your mind will be!

What’s your role?
Help shape how the Grey connects with NYU students! The SFC are ambassadors of the Grey! Members are tasked with broadcasting information about the Grey’s exhibitions and upcoming events to campus audiences. In prior years, students designed and executed hands-on workshops, spring socials, and gallery crawls. 

The SFC meets biweekly on Thursdays, five times a semester, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at 20 Cooper Square, and attendance is a requirement of membership.
